Outstanding picture August 23, 2010 T. Surgalski (Zelienople, PA) Like so many others, I researched HDTVs to death for about six months. I had it narrowed down to the Samsung and the LG55LH90. I just couldn't justify the $300 price difference at the time I purchased this TV. Great black levels, great color, and incredible depth to the picture. I was more interested in picture quality than extra features. The reflective screen is not an issue in my room setup. I purchased a Playstation 3 as a BluRay player. The Playstation has wireless built in, so I didn't care if the TV had it. No problems with delivery or set up. I went to a number of stores and looked at the HDTVs on display, but most of them have the picture so overcooked,it is hard to tell any difference. The source material usually was not that great. I based my final decision on reviews here and elsewhere on the web.
Unbelievable August 19, 2010 mrc6363 I order my Samsung Monday and it was delivered free on Thursday. The delivery was suburb. Fast and hassle free. Pilot opened it, assembled the stand and put the TV on the stand and plugged it in. We checked that it was working properly and they were gone. Very professional and I am very pleased with that part of my transaction. Now all I can say is WOW, OUTSTANDING the picture is so crystal clear and sharp. The colors are just out of this world. I hooked up my DVD player and watched the Wrath of Kahn as my first choice and I thought I was on the bridge of the Enterprise. I can not believe what I am seeing, it's like watching all my DVD's for the very first time. I am like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what to watch next. I instantly upgraded my cable service and I may never leave the house again. It's been one week since I recieved my Samsung and I am so pleased with this product. I have left everything on the factory settings, although I have played with the different setting via the remote just to be able to see what I am capable of doing but never changed a thing. My son plays his Xbox and the graphics are killer as he puts it. I highly recommend this TV to who every is looking for a top notch, hassle free product.
What a great deal August 19, 2010 Rich I spent a long time looking at various TVs as my old TV was gradually failing. After reading many reviews and looking at TV on display in stores we narrowed the choice down to Samsung. When I checked Amazon and saw the great price for the 55" full-featured set the choice was a no brainer.
This set has a great picture, the built-in speakers are satisfactory and the controls are handy. I run it on cable TV so I can't comment on over the air reception.
I found that I can't get closed caption when using HDMI, a minor problem. I also found that it doesn't have an S-video input for some of my old equipment, again a minor issue. Overall, a great set at a great price. I haven't tried hooking it up to my computer or the download features-I'm just interested in a great TV.
Amazon was great not just with the price but the speed at which my order was processed. The trucking company that delivered was on-time and friendly as they set up the TV and made sure that it worked.
If you have the room for a 55" set this is the one to go for. I'm sure that the 47" would be just as good, just smaller.
I love our new tv! August 14, 2010 Cara E. Washington (Cincinnati, OH) I'd been researching and viewing flat screen HDTVs for nearly 2 years. The best pictures I've seen have been on the Samsung, Sharp, Toshiba and LG-in that order. I settled on the Samsung 650, and was able to buy it for $300 less than any other that carried that model. The colors, pictures and sound are equal to sitting in a movie theater. Our family-especialy my husband- are all very pleased with our new Samsung TV. We have ours hooked up to satellite and surround sound an its wonderful. Our PS3 blu-ray show movies in their best light with this television.
Have Had it 2 Weeks and Great So Far! August 13, 2010 Dan Newman This is my first TV purchase in 10 years and I'm not a videophile but rather a sports fan who wanted a major upgrade. After months of reading reviews, visiting Best Buy and Costco, and reading more reviews, I finally pulled the trigger on this set. Once I started reading about the C650, I agonized over the decision for several reasons: Size (55" LCD vs. 50" Plasma), Appearance (Did not want the red Touch of Color), Glare (major concern but tradeoff with better picture), and Timing (these TVs keep dropping in price, seemingly every week). So to address these issues and more, hopefully summarizing/addressing many of the other reviews I read, here we go...
Delivery - I was very pleased with the delivery from Pilot. They arrived at the start of my 9-12 delivery window, set up the TV and moved my old and heavy 27" CRT to the garage. Had no problem tipping them $20 for the half hour or so they were there. One of them mentioned that they had never moved an old TV, especially one that heavy. If true, maybe should have tipped more.
Size - the 55" is perfect for my space. I kept going back and forth but the 55" looked so much bigger at Best Buy and, as a huge sports fan, I know I'll appreciate it. Although the Samsung plasma (C6500) looks like a great set too.
Glare - On Amazon, I noticed many complaints about glare on the C630 but not as much with the C650 even though I believe they have the same screen. I have a relatively dark room with no direct sunlight. During the day, there is some glare but it's not distracting. Personal preference and lighting conditions are a big part of being able to accept that this screen can produce some glare.
Touch of Color - It's not noticeable. It was on the B650, last year's model, but not on the C650. Wouldn't think twice about that.
Price - I don't see how much lower it can go at $1,450 but, at that price, it's already a great value.
Sound - Good enough for me. Might invest in a sound system at some point but does the job. Actually better in reviews than most other sets.
Off-angle viewing - Not too good. But 99% of the time it won't matter since it's just two of us at home.
Apps - Have just been using Pandora so far and love it.
Wireless Adapter - Buy the Rosewill RNX-N1, per one of the discussions on Amazon. It's much less than the Samsung adapter and works very well.
Dejudder - This is one that I struggled with somewhat. Play around with AutoMotion. With sports it's fine. But with some shows, you need to turn it off.
Settings - Most people seem to like to customize in Movie mode, but I much prefer Standard mode. To each their own.
In short, go for it! For the price, I couldn't find anything comparable.
